Where have all the families gone?

I see it every day, one of the least talked about but most damaging problems facing this country: generations of families without any true sense of what it means to be a family and means to selflessly care for someone else or our society.

Let's re-shift the focus back here

A lot of people might talk big about love and respect and defending the honor of their family or culture, but it is not real. To be sure, for them it is real, as tangible as the dream of playing professional sports or becoming a platinum selling musician without any practice, skill or exhausting desire. In reality, it is a farce, a defense mechanism to appear strong in the face of all of society’s adversities and prejudices.
Let's remove the focus from here

My work day is a constant visible and tangible reminder of the effects of racism and classicism on people and on entire cultures within the larger context of America. My work day is a constant visible and tangible reminder of the effects a punitive culture based solely on punishment for your     problems can bring about on the people within it.

Slowly and surely, from within, our country is rotting. Our ability to take care of our people is crumbling. We have stolen the reality of what America can be from ourselves and our people. We have wrapped ourselves in hyperbole and hatred. We have forgotten how to take care of Americans and wage war against our own problems.

We spend trillions on wars, conflicts, monetary loans and diplomatic help trying to establish freedom and democracy around the world, yet we have forgotten that we also have an obligation to maintain freedom and democracy right here in-between our borders.

How can we spread freedom and democracy throughout the world when we can barely spread freedom and democracy within ourselves?

We suffer from a “do as I say, not as I do” problem.

We became the most powerful nation because of our youth, zeal and energy for the idea of America. We are squandering that power through the rampant, and a lot of times misguided, use of our youth, zeal and energy for the idea of America.

I am not saying we need to shut ourselves down and become isolated. I think the dynamics of the age we live in make that impossible. I do think, however, we can most help the world by dedicating ourselves to becoming the most educated and healthy nation on the planet.

Our country used to lead by example, not by force. We need a return to that mentality.

We need to build up all of our people. We need to implement strong education and health systems that truly benefit the people of our nation, not the agenda setting wing of a national political party. We need to maintain a defense structure that works for the defense of our nation, not the imperialistic goals of our international corporations.

America used to be nation of free people, not free corporations, able to pursue their wildest dreams and do anything and everything in their power to make them a reality. That can still be our reality and our nation’s calling card.

The great future of America

We each need to remind ourselves why the world use to look to American and why the world's peoples exhausted and gave of themselves in a real effort to honor their families and their futures.

Oh, and I know it's been three years just about since I wrote anything on here. Let's just chalk it up to me finally finding something worth saying.
